1. The lives of children are very precious.
2. All efforts must be taken to prevent emotional, physical, or sexual abuse of children.
3. I have read and understood the handout entitled Recognizing Child Abuse and Neglect.
4. As a worker in the Children's Program I understand it is completely outside of the scope of my ministry to engage in any practice that would intentionally harm a child physically or sexually or emotionally.
5. As a worker, I also agree not to engage in any behavior that would involve sex or sexuality with a child. That includes inappropriate touching, intimate sexual contact, sexual gestures, sexual jokes and statements, exhibitionism, actions or speech designed to arouse sexually, and actions or speech designed to encourage sexual experimentation.
6. The church policy is not to make any presentation regarding sexual issues or to discuss sexual issues without prior written approval of a guardian. Consistent with that policy and as a worker, I agree not to discuss sexual issues or sexuality with any child under legal age (18) without written permission from a parent or legal guardian. If approached by a child regarding sexual issues of a general rather than personal nature (for example, "What does the Bible teach about premarital sex?"), as a worker I may state the Biblical position on this issue and show the Scriptures, but I will then notify the parent of the discussion. When I have a conversation with an individual child regarding inappropriate romantic behavior or sexual issues (when parental permission has been granted) I will have this conversation with another CSP adult present. This adult and myself should be of the same gender as the youth that I am talking to.
7. I understand that sexual abuse of a minor child is a crime. I understand that the church will cooperate fully with any and all law enforcement agencies when abuse occurs.
