Why do you use the Westminster Confession for your elder training?

Q: I noticed that you use the Westminster Confession of faith for your leadership development. Why the Westminster Confession of Faith?

A: The Westminster Confession of Faith is the most complete and most Biblical confession of doctrine that I know of. We have all of our elder candidates read a study manual by G.I. Williamson on the Westminster Confession that we provide. They don't have to subscribe to it or believe everything it teaches (our elders subscribe to the church's 18 essential doctrines), but we have found it to be an excellent training tool to help elders "encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it" (Titus 1:9).
