Confront only the issue, not the person
- Job 6:24 says: Teach me, and I will be quiet; show me where I have been wrong.
- Don’t say cruel things or slander any one
- James 4:11 - Brothers, do not slander one another.
- Check your motive - James 3:1-12 taming the tongue
- Do not listen to hearsay from others
- Be sure that a wrong/sin was committed
- Go with a friend's concern - Proverbs 27:9 - Perfume and incense bring joy to the
heart, and the pleasantness of one’s friend spring from his earnest counsel.
Exodus 18:5-27 is a prime example of how we should admonish a brother.
